Greetings from Asbury Park & James Gandolfini

Last weekend was the Garden State Film Festival, down in Asbury Park, NJ. Not exactly Sun Dance, but I try to support the local guys. Truth – I also wanted to hear James Gandolfini during a Q&A for the short feature, “Club Soda.” It wasn’t exaclty a stretch for Jim, but I absolutely enjoyed seeing him in person. And more importantly, introducing myself. :)

As the Asbury Park Press put it, it’s good to be friends with James Gandolfini. Although the plot was insignificant, the acting and the cinematography were impressive. I snapped a pretty blurry shot on my treo of Jim. Ok, I admit it I’m a silly fan!

For those of you that are interested, Asbury Park is undergoing a reformation. It is truly amazing to see that town bouncing back. Next time you are around – check it out and swing by the Stone Pony.

Stephanie Agresta Consulting Launch Party Pics!

Phew – made it through a long but exciting week. Sorry for the delay in getting these up friends! (Thanks for the nudge Sam)! There are more pics on the way. Nando Rodriguez, owner of My Purple Room, was the photographer for the event and he did a great job capturing the spirit of the night!

Epitaph: Ze Frank March 17, 2006 – March 17, 2007

The last Ze Frank Show. The show premiered with the March 17, 2006 episode and ends today, exactly one year later. *sigh*. I?m really sad. I suppose for people like me, who purchase feelings all the time (listen to the song ? lyrics below), I?m used to this. Possession and loss?ebb and flow. Well, I just want to bow my head in honor of Ze Frank today. What a great idea, and so well executed. As a marketer, it?s hard not to just smile, in awe of one person?s creativity, passion and commitment. Oh yeah, and hot shot meetings in Hollywood.

Ze Frank Duck

Very impressive. Plus, it?s always good to know when to make an exit. I look forward to seeing what else Ze Frank comes up with and wish him tons of success and happiness! Now, that brings me to another ending. The last episode of the Sopranos starts on April 8th. I just realized today that April 8th is Easter. Re-birth, juxtaposed with the beginning of the end. I cried when I saw the last Ze Frank video clip, but it’s nothing like I will cry when the Sopranos ends.

It doesn?t really matter that I own all the DVDs and watch the show on HBO on Demand all the time. I?m glad I can do those things. I?m glad I can go back and watch all the Ze Frank shows I missed. But there is nothing like being actively in production ? alive!

Farewell to Ze Frank?s show. As for the Sopranos ? well, you will be hearing more about that. I?m a quintessential Jersey Girl (thanks to the Christian Affiliate Marketers for noticing).

I host a party whenever a new season launches, complete with antipasto, lasagna and great red wine! I suppose there is always something new to get excited about. It?ll be hard to replace Tony Soprano! But I guess, ?Hallelujah, it’s a brand new day!?

BTW – Great news, in case you don?t already know: Ze Frank will be the keynote speaker at this year?s Affiliate Summit in July. I hope you?ll be there in Miami. I know I will!

Questions: How has social media impacted your business, your marketing plan? Have you even thought about it? Have you taken action? Yes, one needs to understand the nuts and bolts of internet marketing, but I believe it really comes down to art! Creativity, and capturing hearts and minds! Getting someone to purchase a feeling. What do you think?

Fade to music?.
This is a sad sad song about leaving
This is the price you pay when you purchase a feeling
It’s where the conversation slowly fades and you start saying
“Hey there, do you have a ride for me?
‘Cause it’s late and I’ve got to go to bed.”
This is a sweet sweet song about beginnings
These are the first few words that you say in the morning
It’s when you start singing, “Hey, I’m only (insert your age here)”
Hallelujah, it’s a brand new day (a-chicka quack quack)
Hallelujah, it’s a brand new day

Q2 Goal: Grow my baby blog, baby!

Those who know me know that I?m a big believer in White Boards and Lists. I love lists. I regularly update my update list. This week, I have felt a bit guilty (useless emotion) about not having more entries ready to go since launching this blog last week. But, I?ve been watching Oprah.

And in accordance with her infinite wisdom, I?ve decided not to beat myself up.

Getting into the groove of blog-writing is an acquired skill. One that takes time. Some of my friends and colleagues like Shawn Collins, Wayne Porter, Vinny Lingham, Shmuly and all the others in my blog roll ? well, they?ve all been at it for a long time. I?m a virgin blogger. So I?m going to give myself all of Q2 to get this rolling. Let?s consider this, in the parlance of my profession, a beta blog through June of 2007.

Back to my love of lists. What follows is my list of goals for growing this blog. If there?s anything I take more seriously than my lists, it?s my goals. A list of goals? Absolutely. Here goes:

  • Write blog entries often, even if they?re short.
  • Get immersed in the blogosphere: read more blogs and comment on blogs. On that note, Bryan Eisenberg, co-founder and CPO (Chief Persuasion Officer) of Future Now, Inc. had a great post this week about what compels one to comment on a blog. Well, you can read my comment about why I comment. I hereby state that the first person who posts a comment on this, my baby blog, gets a prize. (I am a good great gift-giver btw).
  • Get plug-ins for WordPress (soon!) and improve the look-and-feel of my Theme. (Although I must confess, there is something old school and cute about this WordPress default.) I?ll just jazz it up, daddio.
  • Share my blog. If it just so happens to get readership, great. There are a lot of groovy technical ways to share and get my blog promoted and listed. I know how to do it, and I?ll make the time to do it.
  • Most importantly: enjoy the process. Isn?t that what it?s all about?

Questions: Why do you have a blog? Does your professional blog give you personal pleasure as well? Do you think certain personality types are more likely to blog than others? Do you have any tips for a how a new blogger can improve their skills and promote readership of their blog?

Can’t wait to hear from you.
