Ever since Edward Cullen came out of the shadows and into the light to sweep Bella Swan off her feet, the world has been gripped by the Twilight series. Despite being the better part of a century old, Cullen puts a vicelike grip on Swan and, subsequently, the hearts of swooning females across the world.

Unfortunately, all good things have to come to an end and, since 2012, hoards of movie-going Twilighters have been left wanting. Fortunately, however, the benefits of being part of the undead society means that Cullen and Swan have been able to live on way beyond their literary and cinematic roots.

Thanks to fan power and creative ingenuity, Twilight has seeped into the fabric of society, which means it’s possible to enjoy some vampiric virtues in a host of areas. From TV and fashion to online games, Twilight’s heartbeat now resonates throughout all walks of life.

The natural progression from the Twilight series of books and films is a TV program featuring vampires. Although not a direct descendent of the Twilight series, the Vampire Diaries is a closely related cousin of the hit series and there are striking similarities between the characters in each. Although Nina Dobrev recently announced that she is leaving the show, it has been going strong since 2009 and will continue to do so in the coming years.

For those who don’t already know, Vampire Diaries is based on the book of the same name and focuses on the life and times of Elena Gilbert (played by Dobrev) as she falls in love with vampire, Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley). As the story develops, a love triangle emerges between Gilbert, Salvatore and his brother, Damon. Although purists will always claim that Twilight is the “original” and the best, Vampire Diaries is certainly a credible alternative and a fantastic way to keep the Twlight legacy alive.

Another walk of life where it’s possible to relive the magic of Twilight is by anteing up in the virtual casino world. Although it may seem like a slightly odd place to find a Twilight homage, online casinos actually have a number of themed slot games that take elements of the vampiric community and turn them into lucrative games.

The final place where Twilight has left an indelible mark is the world of fashion. Although not as hot as it was when the films were breaking box office records, the “Twilight look” is still something many young women aspire to. Although teen fashion magazines were awash with Bella Swan style outfits, the one enduring legacy of Twilight’s costume department was the wedding dress worn by its heroine.

Understated but dazzling, the Carolina Herrera original has spawned a myriad of copycats. While none have been able to match the original, the overall look has now become a staple design among fashion designers and consumers. Does anyone look as good as Swan? Probably not. However, the fact people want to emulate her means that Twilight won’t ever die and fans can enjoy the series for many years to come.
